WHAT IS A MODEL COURSE?
A model course is a sample course that you can download as the first step in building your academic course. It has been built with placeholders and design items to allow you to build a course and organize some information more quickly. Once you've downloaded the model, you can do simple or advanced customization.
Many find that using model courses is the fastest way to set up your course homepage and other content areas. In addition to whole model courses, you can also use individual course assets, such as pages, that have been made available in the Commons.
You can preview the available model course by clicking the following links. The previews will let you see the course in a way very similar to what a student would see. Course interactions such as assignments, quizzes, or discussions are not completely functional in model courses.
Before you get started, we recommend you learn more about navigating Canvas, as this will ensure you can find controls you need.
HOW DO I USE A MODEL COURSE?
Once you've decided which model course you want to use, follow the instructions in the Details tab of this article to find the model course in the Commons. Import the model into your master course, modify the placeholder content and add your own material.
