How do I adjust my Flash settings for Microphone / Webcam issues?

If your microphone or webcam does not work in CarmenConnect, though functions properly within other programs, you may need to adjust your Flash settings.

In sum, you will need to add a site exception which explicitly allows camenconnect.osu.edu to utilize a microphone or webcam.

The following steps were created utilizing Windows 7 on a PC. If you use another version of Windows or different operating system (Mac, Linux, etc.), the general process remains the same but the individual steps may vary.

To adjust your Flash settings:

  1. Click the Start button in the lower-right corner.

  2. Select Control Panel from the Start menu.

  3. The Control Panel window appears. Select Flash Player.

  4. The Flash Player Settings Manager appears. Click the Camera and Mic tab.

  5. Click the Camera and Microphone Settings by Site button.

  6. The Camera and Microphone Settings by Site pop-up appears. Click Add.

  7. The Add Camera and Microphone Setting by Site pop-up appears. Type carmenconnect.osu.edu into the Website Domain field.

  9. Click Add.

  10. The Add Camera and Microphone Setting by Site pop-up disappears. Click Close to exit out of the Camera and Microphone Settings by Site window.

  11. Click the axa in the upper-right corner to exit the Flash Player Settings Manager.
