Resolved: Canvas has reported this issue resolved. If you're still experiencing this issue, please make sure you have the latest version of the Canvas iOS app.
Issue: After the Canvas Student mobile app update on 8/24/18, students on iOS devices are unable to open PDF files saved to their devices.
PDFs are viewable in the Canvas app, however, when attempting to save PDF files to their device, the app is adding a .tmp extension. When the user tries to open the saved file on their device or in another app such as Notability, users receive an error.
We apologize for the inconvenience and we are working with the vendor to resolve the issue.
Work-around: Students on iOS devices should access Carmen using in a browser app such as Chrome or Firefox instead of the Canvas app. Files accessed through a browser are not affected by the issue.
