Title Addition Request

The Secured Media Library is intended for instructional use of copyrighted videos, such as theatrical motion pictures, documentaries, and television episodes.

Your media will be added as temporary titles, they will remain available in the SML as long as the physical media is in ODEE's possession. For copyright reasons, your physical masters must remain in our possession for the duration that it is streaming in the Secured Media Library.

Once you are ready for your media to be returned to you please see our Title Return Request form.

Supported Formats

At this time we are only able to accept titles supplied on physical media. We cannot accept videos purchased digitally from iTunes, Amazon, or other retailers.

Please see the complete list of requirements and restrictions for title additions.

Providing Media

Physical masters should be brought in person or sent via Campus Mail to ODEE (except University Libraries titles; see below for more information).

Time Required to Add a Title

Titles are typically processed within a two-week window from when the physical media is received.

During high demand times, such as the beginning of the semester, please get your media to us as soon as possible.

For more details on how to add temporary or permanent titles and required formats please see the Resource Center help article.

If you are not requesting this title be added for a specific course please provide more information about your intended use of this title.
Keep in mind processing videos can take up to two weeks.

If the title you would like added to the SML is owned by the University Libraries and is currently available for checkout, we will work with the libraries to remove the title from circulation and make it available in the SML temporarily for one term.

Do not check the title out yourself, we cannot accept library titles that are already checked out to you.

If the title you request is already streaming through one of the University Libraries streaming databases, we will not process duplicate titles.

Please provide a link to the library record. Note this can be found by clicking on the "Permalink" in WorldCat or the "Permanent link to this record" in OSU catalog record. Examples: http://osu.worldcat.org/oclc/55897960 OR http://library.ohio-state.edu/record=b5478623~S3
